For all that this site is called iscotch, I do love me some fine Irish whiskey. And this is some fine Irish whiskey. Bushmills is pretty much always good. Previously […]
just a reference post to make this point in time easier to find – added Aug 26 2014 Check it out at StillwellGray.ca/blog
I have been looking at this bottle for a year or so now, humming and hawing over trying bourbon while I’m still figuring out scotch. Dan and I figured it […]
We’ll call it a three month hiatus! New layout! New posts! Yay!
Man, I cannot get enough of this stuff. Aged in casks of other booze, Innis & Gunn beer takes on a lot of really interesting flavours. I’ve tried four of […]
I had tried the Cragganmore previously on a drinking night with NG, but I lost my notes in a scuffle later that evening. It came as part of the Classic […]
Picked up the Classic Malts (the Malts.com people) Strong Collection, featuring wee bottles of Cragganmore 12y, Talisker 10y and Lagavulin 16y. I’ve reviewed the Talisker previously, but reviews for the […]
This is a big hitter. Probably one of the most robust scotches I’ve tasted so far that remains drinkable. Hands down, we have nothing but good things to say about […]
Replaced the Superstition and picked up the Origin 10y and Prophecy at the same time. They look pretty good together.
So, I could (and will) go into detail about the way this Canadian Whisky tastes, but you should know it’s just terrible. It blends with Canada Dry ginger ale very […]
Wrapping up this foray into Whiskies Irish is a bottle The Dan had set aside for review. This is an Irish Whiskey blend, mixing malt and grain whiskeys, but with […]
This is the second of the Irish Whiskies we bought for St Paddy’s day, delayed by scheduling conflicts with The Dan. But this weekend we managed to get together and […]
I grabbed this and the next bottle of something called “Irish Whiskey” for St Patrick’s day when we threw a little impromptu get together. My work ethic being what it […]
Got this bottle as a going away present from a co-worker when I left my last job. Its the first blended scotch I’ve reviewed, and… its better than I thought […]
Katherine snagged this bottle (I know, right?) on a recent trip home to the ‘Scosh (no one calls it that). We were pretty stoked to try this – one of […]
Yay for surprise scotch presents! Katherine grabbed this for me a few weeks ago so obviously I had to get her help for the review. You may recognize MacAllan as […]
Another bottle to replace. This Jura was one of the first bottles I bought myself – I really liked the story they told on the box, for the most part. […]
I should come clean on this one before I go any further – after Taliskers, Bowmore is my favourite scotch. If you want to drink single malt scotch on a […]
Holy space crap on space toast – Ardberg (spArdberg) is sending up scotch-related experiments to the International Space Station. Apparently they think gravity may play a role in maturation and, hey, they make scotch in space, so I’m not going to second guess them.
I’ve only tasted one Ardberg so far. Anyone with tips or hints on how to get a taste of spcotch, please, let me know.
The other night I got a call from The Dan that our friend Alex had purloined a bottle of single malt scotch from his dad’s closet. It proved to be […]
This is the first single malt scotch I tasted when I started this new hobby of scotch… uh, drinking. It was the second bottle I emptied (I love Bowmore), triggering […]
Taste-wise, the Distiller’s Edition sits in the same place in comes in the box – right in the middle. Its difficult to describe it without comparing it to the 57° […]
I’m not usually a huge fan of the super-high proofed whiskies – while it has its uses, the burn is a distraction from the flavour. I was pleasantly surprised by […]
