I’m not usually a huge fan of the super-high proofed whiskies – while it has its uses, the burn is a distraction from the flavour. I was pleasantly surprised by the 57° – it manages to remain a Talisker while bringing significant heat.
Neat: Alcohol & peat – hot on the tongue, lots of burn. The flavour has a little trouble getting through but still pleasant.
With ice: peat & old wood. Definitely a Talisker.
It should be noted, malts.com no longer lists this expression for Talisker, so it may be getting rarer.
Talisker 57° – 57% 200ml – ?? – Islands
Try it? Definitely. Buy it? Only if you’re already a Talisker fan.
