Penderyn, Pride Of Wales. These guys kick ass.
Since this is a Round 2, we’ve obviously had the Peated before, delivered in large format by my sister from her teaching trip to Wales. Last year’s trip produced the Penderyn Miniatures, featuring the Sherrywood and Madeira casked expressions as well.
Since there are four other Penderyn articles already, I’m not sure how much more there is to tell you about them, other than they continue to do great work. Including sponsoring NATO dinners, apparently.
Here’s what we thought, this time around:
colour
Ryan – holy crap that’s light, pear coloured
Simon – like filtered apple juice
nose
Ryan – key lime, dry brush smoke
Simon – pear drops, grape, plum
neat
Ryan – pinewood, dark chocolate
Simon – very light on tongue, mild wood, def higher proof, vanilla
finish
Ryan – warm, lightly spicey
Simon – chest warmth, lingers on tongue
splash
Ryan – ice cream
Simon – soft & creamy, velvet, vanilla
Penderyn Peated Single Malt Whisky – 46% 200ml – ??? – Wales
Try it? YES! Buy it? If it’s in budget, definitely.
