Revel Stoke Roasted Pineapple with Dan & Laura

revelstokepinappleAnother offering from Winnipeg – Revel Stoke Roasted Pineapple flavoured whisky. I think everyone knows how this is going to go so let’s not drag it out.

We’ve had and not enjoyed Revel Stoke before, namely their Spiced Whisky and the parent company Phillips Union North American blend. This puts us 18% the way through the Revel Stoke product line.  You may yet see them again, as they make exactly one thing that isn’t additionally flavoured, maybe we’ll try that.

To be fair, this is probably not meant for straight drinking unless you’re already drunk. Mixed into cocktails it might work, but at least one school of thought says better ingredients make a better drink, not just louder. Here’s what we thought:

nose
Dan – not whiskey, liqueur
Simon – pineapple only
Laura – pineapple life saver

neat
Dan – children’s antibiotics, fake banana
Simon – only pineapple again. this is for cocktails
Laura – popsicle pete banana

finish
Dan – bazooka joe aftertaste
Simon – mealy, weird mouthfeel
Laura – nasty

splash
Dan – flavoured patio drink/cocktail
Simon – fruit punch quite drinkable
Laura – nope

ginger ale
Dan – better
Simon – weird
Laura – no, do not like

free association
Dan – that time i drank my kid’s medication
Simon – like someone burned down a tropical resort
Laura – n/a

overall
Dan – 2.5/10 (7/10 as mix)
Simon – 3/10 (6.5/10)
Laura – 3/10

Revel Stoke Roasted Pineapple – 35% 50ml – $3.25 – Canada/USA

Try it? No. Buy it? Only for sweet drinks.
