Christmas beer number two, thanks Bengt!
Just a quick review here, we covered what there was to say about the brewery in the last post. This is a baltic porter black lager, which may be a little more of the overnaming we saw on the last label. A baltic porter is an imperial stout but is typically a lager and not an ale. A black lager doesn’t seem to be a specific designation beyond a very dark beer.
And here’s what we thought:
smell
Simon – chocolate, cherry
Ryan – mix of sweetness, wild cherry, butterscotch
taste
Simon – sharpness but quite heavy, sweet, smooth
Ryan – heavy chocolate, too sweet
Les Trois Mousquetaires Grand Cuvée Porter Baltique Black Lager – 8.3% 750ml – $9.10 – Quebec
Try it? Yes. Buy it? Buy the other one.
