Another iterative Innis & Gunn. Apparently we waited too long to post this review, the bottle no longer exists on their website. The second of the Longitude & Latitude series, Higher Ground is a Highland Cask aged Ale, extremely on-brand for I&G at this point. Don’t get me wrong, I love barrel aged beer, especially over the IPA races (which Innis & Gunn are also participating in), it’s just that there’s only so many kinds of beer you can soak in so many kinds of wood.
Super thrilling content here at iScotch. Today is a bad day.
Here’s what we thought:
smell
Dan – ginger, green plum
Simon – barley, honey, malt, fresh, water
Goran – candied bread
taste
Dan – crisp sweetness, plum, cidery, chocolate & coffee
Simon – rich, sweet, warm
Goran – barley, apricot
finish
Dan – tart
Simon – slight coating, bitter
Goran – malty
overall
Dan – 7.8/10
Simon – 7.7/10
Goran – 7/10
Innis & Gunn Latitude & Longitude 002 Higher Ground Highland Cask Ale – 330ml 6.2% – $4.95 – Scotland
