Quick little review with the family while I’m on the road in Vancouver. My sister bought a pre-St Paddy’s Day treat, Innis & Gunn Kindred Spirits Tullamore DEW Barrel Aged Stout for my brother in law and I to try (she did smell it and pronounced it “coffee I wouldn’t drink”).
We’ve had Innis & Gunn stouts and we’ve had Tullamore DEW, AND we’ve had Innis & Gunn aged in Irish whiskey barrels before, namely their Kith & Kin. Here’s to what i assume is the Irish New Year, and here’s what we thought:
nose
Devin – coffee, sweet, toffee
Simon – hot chocolate powder, strawberry
taste
Devin – very stouty – coffee, dark chocolate
Simon – a little bit lighter than expected, cola/chocolate milk, smooth, malt
finish
Devin – sweet, with toffee notes
Simon – clean, slight bitter back, burnt pie crust
overall
Devin – 6.5/10
Simon – 7.5/10
Innis & Gunn Kindred Spirits Tullamore DEW Barrel Aged Stout – 6.1% 330ml – $4.95 – Scotland/Ireland
Try it? Yes. Buy it? Eh.
