Once again, I should start by copping to the fact I already like this scotch. I’m still working my way through my own collection, and I tend to give away bottles I don’t like (screw you, Laphroaig Small Cask, you taste like compost) so a lot of these first reviews will be for whiskys that have already survived a cull.
Highland Park was introduced to me as one of the must-have whiskys, and the 12y lives up to that. Definitely, any scotch collection should have at least one Highland Park entry, and as my 12y is emptying quickly, I’m eyeballing the 18y at the 240 Sparks LCBO to stay complete.
Neat: simple, smoky & caramely, full flavoured. Wood/oak elements on the breath.
With Ice: flavour opens up wide with wood notes while diminishing the alcohol burn and making it more enjoyable on the tongue.
