The Glenrothes Select Reserve with The Dan

I had purchased The Glenrothes before for a friend on reputation alone.  It’s been on my to drink list for a while now and I’m really pleased I finally got to it.

First off, love the packaging.  Round old school medicine bottle, generic cardboard parcel – it makes a great looking and tasting gift.

You can already tell I liked this one, but here’s our tasting notes:

Neat – The Dan: smoky, mild.  Me: Honey, light.  Very tasty.

With a splash: butter, smooth, honey.  mouth feel like melted chocolate.

With ice: smooth and smoky, very simple flavour.

It should be noted that this runs almost opposite to the description on the bottle label: “ripe fruits, citrus, vanilla, hints of spice.”

The Glenrothes Select Reserve – 40% 750ml – $59.65 – Speyside

Try it?  Yes!  Buy it?  Absolutely.
