Here we go, third and final Twomatronic entry: Tomatin Cask Strength Bourbon & Sherry Casks! We’re in the home stretch now! Best part is even the Throwback Thursdays are stuck in a single brand month so shit’s real monotonous around here. Like, even more so than just the regular unrelenting procession of containers of alcohol.
Cask Strength means the blender hasn’t watered down the whisky as it comes out of the barrel. But since that’s done to achieve an improved taste, not doing it means that improvement didn’t happen. Completely unrelated, here’s what we thought:
nose
Dan – caramel, raisins, butterscotch, salt? iodine?
Simon – loud & sharp, hard to smell anything in particular
neat
Dan – reminds me of Jackie Chan in Drunken Master, my tongue is dead
Simon – explosion. wood, chocolate
finish
Dan – short
Simon – good burn, surprise, no eyebrows
splash
Dan – bitter wood w tobacco, moss
Simon – thins to bad dark mint chocolate
overall
Dan – 2/10
Simon – 5/10
Tomatin Bourbon & Sherry Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch – 57.5% 50ml – $ – Highlands
Try it? No. Buy it? No.
