A recent very excellent birth day present, two tickets to Whiskey Ottawa, thanks Hillary!
A massive event with a good 3-400 people and looooots of different whiskeys and whiskies. So much scotch, such tiny glasses.
For the sake of it not taking half a year to publish, and because the notes are short and get shorter, here’s all our drinks and thoughts for the night, in order of consumption:
Bunnahabhain 12y – good, light
Bunnahabhain Toiteach a Dha – campfire by the sea, candied smoked trout, phenols, amazing, does stuff to tongue, salty
Deanston – thick bite, salty caramel no like
Jura 10 – so good, like smoked honey
Jura 12 – caramel, marshmallow
Dalmore 12 – not much to it. Sharp.
Dalmore 15 – sweet wood but not much else
Forty Creek victory – a little corn. Wild Turkey, copper
BenRiach 10 – apples, spice, heat, sharp
BenRiach Speyside – acidic, thin
Glendronach 12 – vomit, thin. Not much
Glendronach Peat – one dimensional
Glenrothes – leather burn, vegetable
Glenrothes 18y – light and nice
Glenfiddich fire & cane – nice good smoke, well made
Glenfiddich Xx – smokey, sharper
It’s possible we had more than 21, in fact I’m sure of it, because there’s more pictures of bottles, but no more notes. So there you go, 21 rapid fire reviews you probably can’t use. But we had a great time!
