I found this Glenlivet expression, the Master Distiller’s Reserve, on an Air Canada flight last night. I thought I was just getting the 12y, a nice little cap off to a long road season and the start of vacation.
This bottling is “available exclusively in Travel Retail” which I assume means people movers and/or duty free. I’m not sure what the brand gains by limiting distribution of some their products this way. Maybe cross marketing with cruises or luxury airlines for the upper bottlings. This one was definitely economy/train level:
Nose
Apples, pears, orchard fruits. Dried hardwood. Odd vegetation notes.
Neat
Light, young. Simple. Vegetation over fruits.
Finish
Pleasant chest burn, slight shine affect
Splash
Not better. Falls apart. Youth evident.
Overall
6/10
Free association
The relief of flying home.
