Reviews with Goran
Scotland

IMG_9659So, uh… don’t get mad, but I confused the Treacle Porter in this year’s collection with the Winter Treacle Porter we already reviewed and just enjoyed it without writing anything down or thinking about taste notes or you people. Sorry. We’re gonna grab some more kits and do that but it’ll be in a bit, so just calm down, there.

Anyway, like when you go to marriage counseling and you happen to mention your partner’s browser history, we’re not here to talk about that. We’re here to talk about the Innis & Gunn Bourbon Stout. Some of my favourite words right there, I tell ya, but this one thudded a little bit. If you check the label, it says “matured over bourbon infused oak”, and if you look at the older “Bourbon Aged Stout” it refers to bourbon barrel chips.  Hopefully product cheapening hasn’t hit this blog’s favourite beer. Here’s what we thought:

smell
Simon – chocolate maple, fruit, grape soda
Goran – chocolate & plum, sauteed butter

taste
Simon – chocolate malt, milk, smooth, clear but heavy
Goran – surprisingly unsweet, flatter, not all night drinker, hint of orange, salted toffee

Innis & Gunn Bourbon Stout – 7.4% 330ml – $?.?? – Scotland

Try it? Yes! Buy it? Nah.
