Dewar’s 18y Blended Scotch Whisky with Dan & Goran

The third and last bottle out of the pack, Dewar’s 18y. Again it appears to be the same mashbill, just aged longer, so I won’t belabour the review with a bunch of gen x nihilism, which is also the same mashbill, just aged longer.

Damnit. Anyway, here’s what we thought:

nose
Dan – kind of sweet, plum
Simon – apples & figs, old socks
Goran – unexpectedly bright hot, thin

neat
Dan – swift, sweet, like sugarcane, slightly bitter
Simon – sweet, golden, bitter
Goran – outstanding mouthfeel, but no layers to flavour

finish
Dan – long, tart
Simon – long, bitter
Goran – medium but not deep

splash
Dan – takes out sweetness
Simon – nothing to it
Goran – n/a

overall
Dan – 6/10
Simon – 5/10
Goran – 7/10

Dewar’s 18y Blended Scotch Whisky – 40% 200ml – $ – Scotland

Try it? Sure. Buy it? No.
