BattleScotch! The Glenlivet 12y v The Glenlivet 15y French Oak Reserve with Ryan & Goran

You knew it was going to happen. You knew as soon as you saw us review the second Glenlivet, you knew “they’re gonna BattleScotch! the 12y and the 15y, I know it”. You knew that. That’s okay. You can own that, bro. Good looking out. We can keep this one short, this is as straightforward

The Glenrothes Flight at The Highlander Pub, Rideau, Ottawa with Dan, Ryan & Goran

We had been looking forward to this night for a week or so, a planned sequel to Dan’s bachelor party that I had been out of town for.  The iScotch lads finally getting around to visiting Ottawa’s biggest Scotch selection at The Highlander Pub on Rideau St in the Byward Market. And a good time

The Glenlivet 15y French Oak Reserve with Dan, Goran & MC The Actual MC

Celebration whisky is always good. Dan & Laura gave Ryan this bottle to say thanks for Being the MC at their wedding reception. He did a good job, and a good job deserves scotch. We’ve tried the 12y before, and I’ve had the 18y at my bro-in-law’s. So it was nice to try the middle

ScotchParty Review #7 – The Famous Grouse with Dan, Jared & Bowick

So… yeah.. late at night. Not our best work. We had a few bail-outs and quitters. But to be fair they may have already been asleep. Shameful to say that we are going to have to revisit The Famous Grouse (warning, Flash splash page ahead, because it’s 2004) because the notes are incomplete. I will

ScotchParty Review #3 – BattleScotch! The Glendronach 12y Original v The Glenrothes Select Reserve with Jared, Ashley, Alex, Goran, Ryan, Dan & Bowick

BATTLESCOTCH AT A SCOTCHPARTY. THE BATTLE OF THE GLENS. Sorry for the shouting.  We pitted The Glendronach 12y Original against The Glenrothes Select Reserve literally because they both have Glen in the name – The GlenDronach is an aged expression Highlander and The Glenrothes is a non-specific Speysider, so it really was the only axis

ScotchParty Review #1 – The GlenDronach 12y Original with Dan, Ryan, Goran, Bowick, Ashley & Jared

So, we had a little get-together. Everyone brought a bottle. We did our level best to properly review all of them. Seriously, we really really tried. A part of the BenRiach brand, GlenDronach is one of the deepest red scotches I’ve ever seen, and since we tasted this one towards the beginning of the night,

The Glenlivet 12y with Dan & Ryan

The Glenlivet.  Another fairly glaring absence from our testing roles, finally remedied! The Glenlivet is an elder, storied distillery.  I would tell you more about it but I can’t type their tag lines like “a tale of single-minded determination and irrepressible spirit” and still respect myself, so go check out their website.  They have videos

The Peat Monster with Dan

Doing the background research for this bottle got me a little frustrated. I think I’m getting some traffic from the States these days, so for the benefit of you and others from outside Ontario, Canada, let me break it down for you.  Our booze is controlled through the provincial government.  We buy our beer at
